Organic Vegetable Farm Manager Apprenticeship Program

The Wisconsin Organic Vegetable Farm Manager Apprenticeship is accepting applications for its 2026 apprentice cohort. This competency-based program spans two growing seasons and includes on-the-job training, classroom instruction, an increasing hourly wage, and plenty of ongoing opportunities to connect with and learn from the broader farmer community.

As a registered apprenticeship program, apprentices and their farmer educators use a comprehensive Job Book to guide on-farm training. Field days, monthly cohort calls, and regular check-ins keep peer-to-peer learning front and center.

The apprenticeship has extensively broadened my appreciation of the time, interdisciplinary effort and strength required to produce quality produce. The work is really challenging in all the best ways; I am amazed by the simultaneous complexity and simplicity of farming. The apprenticeship has been both extraordinarily practical and convivial. I am very grateful to cultivate relationships with both experienced vegetable growers and enthusiastic peers. It’s incredibly empowering and equipping!
